Problem with sounds in gaming

Video Games can be a large source of fun and entertainment for a lot of people, and for some people it may even be their carrier. They can also be a alternative for things like books,  movies and music. Although in books the reader has to depend on their imagination and capability to make sure that the reader is understanding the book and enjoying it, however in video games the player does not have to have good imagination and understanding to enjoy it and understand the story of the game (if it has one). There would also be no problems with sounds and visual problems and glitches in books as the reader can’t see or hear anything from the book they have to use their imagination, but some people lack imagination (This condition is called aphantasia) and might struggle with it. However movies are a lot like games as they both have visuals and audio. In view of the fact the visuals are just as important in games and movies because you cannot watch a movie or play a game with no visuals as you, the player or the audience, you would have to depend on your ears either to tell you where the enemies are in games or what's going on in a film. The same goes for audio, if you tried playing a game or watching a movie with no audio you wouldn’t be able to tell where enemies are coming from, and in films would wouldn’t be able to tell if someone off screen said or did something.

Given that the sound designers for games and films have to get every sound perfect which is practically impossible to come by so it is only fair that sometimes sound designers get some wrong or a bit off. Sometimes sound designers have to go off of nothing (like laser weapons, we don’t currently have any laser weapons in real life. Even if we did light doesn’t make any sound) so they have to make up a sound or have audio for moving parts on the weapon that is as pleasing as possible to the players and audience. Personally, I think that the laser sound effects in the fallout franchise is done quite well. Sound designers might even get their audio directly from real life i.e. a thunderstorm, They might have a microphone outside and inside to record the sounds directly.

My report will show some problems in games to do with audio, and i will also cover how to fix them.

GTA vice city

In GTA vice city you can - obviously - have guns. However to a lot of people, including myself, think that the guns don’t sound realistic and that they could of done a better job at it to make the game sound more realistic. The gun sounds in GTA vice city sounds muffled and the quality is bad. When your companies game is leaving its customers unsatisfied it can be very problematic not only for the companie getting a bad reputation but also they wouldn’t make as much money as the game would be selling less. When shooting a gun in a game you, the player, would like to have the sound sound like it really packs a punch and not have it sound like it shoots sponges at enemies. So a lot of the time if a games guns don’t sound very realistic it could lead to the ruin of that game or modders having make mods to fix this problem.

The company who made GTA vice city (Rockstar games)
The gun Colt .45 even has the audio cut off at the end for some reason. This would be easily fixable by just not have the audio cut short
